The way html and scripting is added to e107 has changed slightly.

Check html/script posting permissions in 'Preferences' > 'Text rendering'. If the permissions are not set correctly then any added code will not work and be displayed with the ##SANITISED## error message.

This includes code which has been added before the v0.7.23 update, so you will need to set the permissions, then add the code again.

This also affects Youtube video code. Youtube videos can simply be added by using the [bb] code button, and adding the movie code between the tags or by adding the code manually (Notice width and height is in pixels):

[yt=width,height]movie code eg: j6vfJe47h[/yt]

E107 Release Candidates

Well, despite what the e107 devs thought was some good testing of a 'stable' v0.7.23 prior to release, some users' installations became 'unstable' after upgrading.

They believe that most of these issues have now been corrected, but rather than simply making another official release, they will be introducing beta 'release candidates' into the release process.

They believe this is what they should have done with 0.7.23 - so have learned their lesson. From now on, the stable 0.7 will remain as such, and release candidates will be made available prior to any official release. This will allow them (and yourselves) to test the code more thoroughly.

We recommend that only experienced users upgrade to rc1, while less-experienced users may wish to stick with 0.7.22 or 0.7.23 (if it's running smoothly for you).

You can download the files from here

To upgrade from 0.7.x:

Extract and overwrite your existing files as per the tutorial here

Clear your site cache (admin->cache) and your brower's cache.

Update/merge your .htaccess file (if you are using one) with the changes made in e107.htaccess

Be sure you don't use footer_something.php override but the default footer_default.php in e107_themes/templates (Shouldn't be an issue for ClanWebs customers)

post your bugs in the bugtracker at e107.org when you find them. (Don't tell us, it has nothing to do with us)

This is just a release candidate (beta), not a version upgrade.

A few questions

Hey

I'm gonna start a little side "job" besides my studies, a little design website, where I sell custom avatars, signatures, (maybe) web templates and so on..
Goin for the Unlimited hosting package, as I don't like worrying if my webspace / web traffic shall run out..

What I was wondering is if its allowed to use this host for it, its a clan host I know, so just wanted to make sure As its the best deal I've found on the inet

Secondly I wondered if you had a store plugin for e107 websites, as I would prefer that system due to its simpleness x)

Thanks
Infected

A bug has been discovered with some admin functions in the new release of e107. We have a work around that seems to fix the issue but we do not really want to go through the process of upgrading almost 400 websites just to have to go through the whole process again when the official fix is released.

So if you desparately need to change a users admin permissions please raise a support ticket, and we will update your site files to make this possible.

E107 v0.7.23 Released

The good people over at e107.org have just released their latest update. This release is primarily aimed at reducing vulnerabilities and increasing e107's protection against exploits. One of the changes will affect users who include youtube videos or other embedded media within their site.

This release also includes some minor feature enhancements:

Download Flood Protection (simultaneous downloads)

Found in admin under downloads->options. Option to prevent a user from downloading multiple files within a short time-period.

YouTube bbcode

Allows you to easily add youtube videos to pages of your website. A conversion script is provided for those who have utilized html-code from Youtube already and wish to convert to the bbcode equivalent. By default, 'dangerous' HTML (such as the 'embed' code used with many media) is neutralised when it is displayed. This traps malicious code that may have entered the database before the latest updates were put in place. This filter can be disabled through the preference 'Filter HTML content'.

More information on configuring YouTube videos can be found on the e107 wiki.

Language-pack Creator

Found in admin under languages->tools. For those who are translating e107 into other languages, this tool will zip up your core language files into the standard language-pack format so that they can be shared easily with the e107 community.

Support for security include scripts.

e107 now supports 3rd-Party security includes such as ZB Block without having to manually modify core scripts. Just install them in your root directory as you would normally. To include ZB Block, you would add the following to e107_config.php:

$CLASS2_INCLUDE = 'zbblock/zbblock.php';

e107 would then automatically include it in every page of your site.

The full changelog can be found here.

You do not need to do anything, we are in the process of upgrading all e107 sites to the latest version.

Forum and Site Ranks

Hello. I run www.tribalnorth.com. It is a website for several guilds on Age of Conan each guild is on a different server but they all have the same theme.

That said, the reason I mention that is because of my issue.

I am trying to customize my website so it's a bit of a different experience pending on which guild it is. The guilds are Clan Koragg and Clan Elkhorn.

The problem I'm having is this:

By default, I have the "Main Admin" tag underneath my name.

Officers of both guilds have "Moderator"

The leader of the other guild has "Admin"

I wanted to customize the ranks so that I could have say, the Clan Leader there say "Koragg Chieftain." And the officers over there say "Koragg Elder" That way we have a different title setup and we're not all the same. I know how to edit the images and use the FTP. This is my problem.

How do I add more forum ranks that are NOT based on post counts, but connected to Userclass?

I want each set of officers to have mod permissions, but with a different mod tag. I want to be able to give my 2nd in Command admin status but have a particular title (Elkhorn Warchief) while say, the leader of the other Clan having admin status but his title (Koragg Chieftain) and so on.

Is this even possible?

If not, is there a PHPBB plugin to convert the forums to a more PHP based format?

Custom Theme Service.

Having just returned from 2 weeks holiday I have come to the conclusion that I need to slow down a little.

As well as working 8 hours a day, and running multiple websites offering hosting, theme design and Teamspeak hosting, I also have the extra workload of studying for exams for my aircraft engineering license. I just do not have enough hours in the day to be able to do everything I would like to schieve

Therefore I am suspending our custom theme service until further notice.

We will continue to release free and premium themes as new games are released, and I will concentrate on improving the existing free theme selection with a few updates, and removing the less popular themes we offer.

The orders that have already been placed for custom themes up until this time will of course be honoured.

There are several designers out there that will gladly take your money from you for a custom e107 theme, Infade and McPeace being 2 that immediately spring to mind. A search of the e107.org website will I am sure lead to a few others as well
