##SANITISED## messages, html, and scripting within e107 CMS.

The way html and scripting is added to e107 has changed slightly.

Check html/script posting permissions in 'Preferences' > 'Text rendering'. If the permissions are not set correctly then any added code will not work and be displayed with the ##SANITISED## error message.

This includes code which has been added before the v0.7.23 update, so you will need to set the permissions, then add the code again.

This also affects Youtube video code. Youtube videos can simply be added by using the [bb] code button, and adding the movie code between the tags or by adding the code manually (Notice width and height is in pixels):

[yt=width,height]movie code eg: j6vfJe47h[/yt]

E107 Release Candidates

Well, despite what the e107 devs thought was some good testing of a 'stable' v0.7.23 prior to release, some users' installations became 'unstable' after upgrading.

They believe that most of these issues have now been corrected, but rather than simply making another official release, they will be introducing beta 'release candidates' into the release process.

They believe this is what they should have done with 0.7.23 - so have learned their lesson. From now on, the stable 0.7 will remain as such, and release candidates will be made available prior to any official release. This will allow them (and yourselves) to test the code more thoroughly.

We recommend that only experienced users upgrade to rc1, while less-experienced users may wish to stick with 0.7.22 or 0.7.23 (if it's running smoothly for you).

You can download the files from here

To upgrade from 0.7.x:

Extract and overwrite your existing files as per the tutorial here

Clear your site cache (admin->cache) and your brower's cache.

Update/merge your .htaccess file (if you are using one) with the changes made in e107.htaccess

Be sure you don't use footer_something.php override but the default footer_default.php in e107_themes/templates (Shouldn't be an issue for ClanWebs customers)

post your bugs in the bugtracker at e107.org when you find them. (Don't tell us, it has nothing to do with us)

This is just a release candidate (beta), not a version upgrade.

Re: Admin 'Access Denied' error with e107 v0.7.23

The issue is an 'access denied' error so is relevant to the above. But hey, no problem, you should direct your questions to the developers at e107.org they will give you an idea of when a fix will be available.

I spent 8 hours upgrading sites on Saturday to the latest version because in the past nobody could be bothered to keep it up to date themselves and the result was almost 100 hacked sites. I could have said 'not my problem', but instead I spent 3 days with very little sleep putting everything right again.

From now on we will no longer upgrade any sites, and leave it to the account holders. If e107 had checked before release we would not be in this situation.. In the mean time we will revert everyone back to v0.7.22.

Still at least I can spend my Saturdays fishing now instead of FTP'ing files.

Excuse but I'd appreciate less attitude in your reply, the first post doesn't mention anything about raising a ticket for a fix, it says:

wrote ...
if you desparately need to change a users admin permissions please raise a support ticket

What does changing a users admin permissions go to do with users not able to post news items? The first post also says raise one if you're "desperate", which I'm not.

Hence why I asked for an update because I fall outside of these things. As for an update - personally I'd like to know what's being done to resolve, it's been 3 days now so hopefully you have some idea of when an official fix will be out or whether you'll have to implement your fix or even go back to version 0.7.22?

Or are you just expecting your customers to hang around and wait without any information??

Personally I'd be happy if our site hadn't been upgraded at all and was left to us to upgrade as I'd have tested things first and avoided the whole issue.

Can we have an update please as it's been a couple of days? this doesn't just affect admin areas but also posting comments on news items for us.

Can you please rollback the 0.7.23 update as it's clearly a problem with that
